The quality of the scan in the last post was really bugging me, so after working a bit longer on it I took a photo – even a photo in poor lighting is better than what that scanner is capable of producing.

Many more layers on the face, but still a crappy scan that doesn’t convey the luminosity of the drawing. I’ll have a better image in the morning now that I’ve found the camera.

A detail of a drawing I started over the weekend.
Colored Pencil on Pastelbord, 8 x 14″ (detail)
This one is along the same lines as “Jump!“, from a photo taken a few moments before the reference photo for that one. I liked this one because the light is coming directly from Clara’s right in this one, rather than behind, and there were a few things I learned while drawing the coat in the last one that I want to get right in this one.
This one is 8 x 14″, so this detail of her face is about 2 x 1.5″ – its a scan because I couldn’t find the camera, and looks better in person. The colors sort of desaturated in the scan.
