I’ve been wanting to do a non-portrait drawing to hang in each of my kid’s rooms for a while now, but the problem was I’ve not yet been comfortable with the idea of tackling a still life.  I’m still not, but I’m feeling pretty good about this one as of about 10 minutes ago. I was ready to scrap it after the first hour working on it, but persevered and feel like I’m starting to get the hang of it.

 I admit it is a bit cutesy, but its more of a technical exercise and it is for a baby’s room.  I’ll do a still life with a skull and a whiskey bottle in it next time around to regain any cool points I might be losing with this one.

 Phew, that was a real challenge and I’m really glad its finished. I’m very pleased with the way it came out, though I’ll admit I’m a tad disappointed that its taken up three days worth of my drawing vacation.  Ah well – on to the next piece!
