“Jump!”, Update #2

February 23rd, 2008 · No Comments

A photo in bad lighting of more jacket, hair and more details in the face. I’ll have a better shot in the morning after my next go with it.

“Jump!”, Update #1

February 22nd, 2008 · No Comments

I didn’t make it into work today because I finally caught whatever it was thats been going around the office, spending most of the morning crashed out on the couch in front of the television. I started feeling substantially more human by this afternoon, so started on a new drawing.

This new one is a bit of a departure from my normal style as it incorporates the entire figure in the drawing. I’ll admit it feels a bit strange to be working on something where the face isn’t the main focus, but thats part of goal number five. :)

The reference photo was taken by my Mom of my daughter while she was playing outside and caught her in mid air as she was practicing her “jumpin”.

Finished!

Best viewed large.

Pastelbord is most certainly my surface of choice for any future work. The amount of layers the gritty surface will accept are tantamount to cheating when compared to whats possible with Illustration Board or Mi-Teintes paper. If you’ve never worked with the stuff, I highly recommend you give it a try.
