“Emre, Newborn” Complete

I had to chop four inches from the bottom of the canvas to do it, but I’ve finally finished it:
Colored Pencil on Pastelbord, 11 x 10″
If I hadn’t cut it there would be a large field of green in the front of the piece which wouldn’t have added anything visually interesting – so, I took a liberty.
It’s a relief to have this one done; when something sits on my desk for as long as this one did it starts to get stale in my mind and it’s tough to force myself into working on it. I’m mostly happy with the way it turned out, though.

If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be drawing it…and because of him I haven’t the time (or energy) to work on it.
Perhaps by this time next week I’ll have it finished, hehe.

A bit more progress on this one while the subject naps.

I’ve decided, however, that I dislike white Pastelbord. I chose to use it so this piece would have a lighter air about it, but the pigments don’t pop (more the fault of the white than the board, admittedly) and it doesn’t feel as textured as the other colors. It starts to burnish sooner than its green/sand/gray siblings, which makes it feel more like cold press illustration board.
