Wax Bloom

Something from ‘94

Not many drawings survived my college years – I either lost them, ruined them somehow, gesso’d over them to re-use the support, or gave them away. This is one I’ve always liked a lot and held onto these many years. If I recall correctly, the subject was my roommate’s grandfather.

Colored pencil and acrylic portrait entitled Grandfather or Old Man

Colored Pencil & Acrylic on Cold Press Ill. Board, 11 x 17″

As an aside, the colored pencils I used here were the now discontinued Spectracolors, which I preferred over Primsacolors at the time. I still have the set in the closet. I think there may be some white conté crayon in this piece, too.
